Introduction to Romanticism


Romanticism


Romanticism was fist starting to take place after the French revolution of 1789 and first started to gain attention around late 18th century in France and Britain and carried on into the 19th century. Different countries started to show different characteristics and thoughts about Romanticism most of which where the rejection of order and the system. Instead they started to show importance to strong emotions such as apprehension and awe, also they showed great importance to the imagination. The industrial revolution also helped prompt romanticism as ugly buildings where being built which made people want to return to the beautiful neo- gothic buildings. Romanticism had many thoughts and themes some of which are tragedy, rebellion, horror, exotic, mystic and historical scenes.
